Chinese Delegation Attended the Second Session of the Committee on Trade, Investment, Enterprise and Business Innovation of ESCAP

    The Second Session of the  Committee on Trade, Investment, Enterprise and Business Innovation of ESCAP was held on 28-30 May 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand.  Representatives from the Permanent Mission of China to ESCAP and the Embassy of China in the Kingdom of Thailand attended the meeting.

    The Chinese delegation pointed out that the trade dynamics in the Asia-Pacific as well as in the world is fronted with challenges brought by unilateralism and protectionism. The so-called "reciprocal tariffs" imposed by certain country severely undermines the rules-based multilateral trading system and causes harm to the global economy which is still undergoing sluggish recovery. It called upon member states of ESCAP to adhere to the right course of globalization, jointly oppose unilateralism and protectionism, uphold the multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organization (WTO) at its core, so as to inject new impetus into regional economic stability, prosperity and development.

    The Chinese delegation introduced China's efforts to further attract foreign direct investment and promote international scientific and technological cooperation, and expressed China's willingness to work together with member states of ESCAP to promote cross-border investment and deepen cooperation in emerging area such as digital economy and artificial intelligence, contributing to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
